Fred Scott is a BAFTA-winning, BIFA and Grammy-nominated filmmaker based in Deptford, London. He specialises in documentary portraiture in both film and commercials, with a reputation for combining sensitive, emotive storytelling with cinematic flair.
Fred’s ability to spot and project the emotional truth in a scene or subject gives his work an extraordinary intimacy and human insight. This, combined with a powerful cinematic eye, allows him to create evocative commercial work that has inspired audiences on both sides of the pond, through branded collaborations with Apple, Stella Artois, Intel, Facebook, Beats by Dre, Ikea, and Anthem Blue Cross, amongst others. He recently collaborated with LG for his most recent branded entertainment campaign.
In recent years, Fred’s reputation has grown, resulting in several plaudits and awards. In 2018, his powerful films for Pride In London won 2 silvers at Creative Circle and received three nominations at the British Arrows. In 2020, his documentary feature, Being A Human Person, about the reclusive Swedish auteur, Roy Andersson, was nominated for best documentary at this year’s BIFA awards, as well as being short-listed for a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut. Alongside this, Fred was nominated for a Grammy (Best Music Film) and shortlisted for a Grierson for his Channel 4 documentary, Payday. His music video work has garnered numerous accolades, including Best New Director at the MVAs for his work with artists such as Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling and The Maccabees.
In 2024, Fred won the BAFTA for his Channel 4 documentary, ‘London Bridge: Facing Terror’, winning Emerging Director: Factual.
