Merman is a boutique entertainment studio with a global footprint. We make TV, films, ads, music videos and everything in between. We’re known for bringing our world-class TV and film talent directly into brand storytelling – working alongside agency partners to create bespoke entertainment that pushes the boundaries of how brands connect with audiences.
We originate, develop, produce, and package entertainment across several mediums. We build story worlds audiences want to live in.
Founded in 2014 by Sharon Horgan, our TV division has won multiple BAFTAs — including Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Series – alongside multiple Emmy and RTS nominations. Recent hits include Vladimir (Netflix), Amandaland (BBC), Bad Sisters (Apple TV+), Shining Vale (Starz), Housebroken (Fox), Catastrophe (Channel 4/Amazon), Motherland (BBC), Divorce (HBO), and This Way Up (Hulu/Channel 4). We’re currently in production on Youth – a comedy series written by and starring Sharon Horgan for HBO – and in development on the highly anticipated adaptation of Jennette McCurdy’s I’m Glad My Mom Died for Apple TV+, starring Jennifer Aniston.
On the film side, all three of our features – Herself (2020), Rebel Hearts (2021), and Your Monster (2024) – premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and are now streaming on Amazon, Discovery+ and Netflix respectively.
Our advertising and branded entertainment division operates out of London, New York, and Los Angeles, led by Global Managing Partners Kira Carstensen and Ellen Jacobson-Clarke, with London under the joint directorship of Siobhan Murphy and Spencer Dodd. Alongside multiple Clio and British Arrow award wins, we’ve produced music videos for artists such as Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.
