Jim O’Hanlon

Jim O’Hanlon is an acclaimed director and writer who has received BAFTA, Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for his contribution to film, television and theatre.

As a witty and emotionally perceptive storyteller, Jim has directed ground-breaking film and television in both the UK and the US, including Netflix’s Fackham Hall starring Damien Lewis and Thomasin McKenzie, three seasons of Apple TV’s hugely successful comedy-drama Trying, starring Rafe Spall, Esther Smith and Imelda Staunton, the entire BAFTA-nominated final season of Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s Catastrophe, and the festive rom-com (and sequel) Your Christmas or Mine? For Amazon Prime.

Since joining the Mermates stable for commercial representation, Jim has directed his debut commercial for Tourism Ireland. The two-part series encapsulating the collective wit and warmth of Irish culture stars Sharon Horgan alongside Derry Girls’ Saorise-Monica Jackson and Jamie-Lee O’Donnell and showcases Jim’s talent for authentically capturing joyous, nuanced performances from actors and non-actors alike.
