Simon Hynd, who was born and still lives in Edinburgh, directed all episodes of BBC Four‘s There She Goes and has been nominated for Director at the RTS Scotland Awards 2019. There She Goes was written by Shaun Pye, all of the stories and characters drawn from his real life experiences with his daughter who was born in 2006 with an extremely rare and, to date, undiagnosed chromosomal disorder. Each episode shines a light on day-to-day life with Rosie – unique experiences from simply trying to take her to the park to trying to explain that everyday isn’t her birthday. A second timeline in 2006 shows the effect having a severely disabled child had on the family unit, how it threatened to disintegrate but ultimately brought them even closer.
There She Goes stars David Tennant, Jessica Hynes (who was recently nominated for a BAFTA for her performance), Miley Locke and Edan Hayhurst. Clelia Mountford produced the show as well as serving as an executive producer alongside Merman co-founder Sharon Horgan and Alex Moody. The show aired on BBC Four from October 2018.
The RTS Scotland Awards will be held on the 12th June at the Old Fruitmarket Glasgow.
