Merman co-founder Sharon Horgan has received two nominations at the 2018 IFTA Gala TV Awards for Best Female Performance and Best Writer Comedy/Soap. Both nominations come for Horgan’s work on Catastrophe Series 3 which she co-writes with Rob Delaney.
Sharon Horgan previously won two IFTA Gala Television Awards in both 2015 and 2016 for Best Female Performance and for Best Writing Comedy/Soap again for Catastrophe.
The show’s third series, which was written by its leads Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney, aired on Channel 4 last year. The series was produced by Jack Bayles and directed by Ben Taylor. Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney are currently writing series 4. The show is a co-production between Avalon, Merman and Birdbath productions for Channel 4. Richard Allen-Turner, Kara Baker, Jon Thoday, Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan serve as executive producers.
The Irish Film and Television Academy Gala Television Awards will take place on 31st May.
Catastrophe was recently also nominated for two BAFTA TV awards for Horgan’s performance and also Best Comedy Programme. The winners will be announced during the BAFTA TV ceremony on Sunday 13th May at the Royal Festival Hall, hosted by Sue Perkins.
