SHARON HORGAN WINS IFTA GALA TV AWARD

01 June, 2018

The Irish Film and Television Gala TV Awards 2018 were held last night at the RDS Concert Hall in Dublin. The ceremony was hosted by Jason Byrne.

The first award of the night was for Best Female Performance in a soap or comedy and was won by Sharon Horgan! Sharon is a Merman co-founder with Clelia Mountford. This award is for her performance in Catastrophe, which she writes along with her co-lead Rob Delaney. Sharon attended the ceremony last night and collected the award.

This is Sharon’s fifth IFTA win. She was awarded Best Female Performance at the IFTA Gala TV Awards in both 2016 and 2015. In these two years Sharon also won Best Writer for a soap or comedy at the Awards.

The third series of Catastrophe aired on Channel 4 last year and a fourth series is currently being written by Sharon and Rob. Sharon recently revealed that a big part of the upcoming series will ask: “is anyone in a long-term relationship actually having sex?” Catastrophe is produced by Avalon Television and Merman. It is directed by Ben Taylor.

Catastrophe series 1-3 can be viewed on Amazon.
