The other nominees in the Breakthrough Award category were Aisling Bea for This Way Up, another Merman production and Tim Renkow for Jerk. Merman was also nominated for Diane Morgan in the Comedy Performance (Female) category for Motherland.

Motherland Series 2 was co-produced with Delightful Industries. The series was written by Sharon Horgan, Holly Walsh, Helen Linehan and Barunka O’Shaughnessy. It is directed by Juliet May and produced by Sam Pinnell. The executive producers are Sharon Horgan, Clelia Mountford, Holly Walsh and Richard Boden. Motherland has also been commissioned for a third series.
