‘DROP OFF’ THE US PILOT OF THE BRITISH SERIES, MOTHERLAND, HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED

ABC Signature and Lionsgate have announced ‘Drop Off’, the US pilot of British series Motherland. Written by Julieanne Smolinski it stars Ellie Kemper as Julia, alongside Karan Soni and Judy Greer, with Michael Showalter directing.

Julia (Ellie Kemper) is a working mom for whom nothing is working so she goes looking for her village. With the help of new friends Calvin and Liz, Julia discovers she just might succeed at balancing work and parenting from time to time. This is a comedy for anybody who’s dropped their kids at school, breathed a sigh of relief…then realized it’s Sunday.

Alongside Kemper, Showalter and Smolinski executive producing are Sharon Horgan, Clelia Mountford, Stacy Greenberg and Kira Cartensen for Merman Television, Paul Feig and Dan Magnante for Feigco Entertainment and Holly Walsh and Helen Serafinowicz.

The original UK series of Motherland won  the BAFTA Award for best scripted comedy in 2022.
